Maja Janmyr is Professor of International Migration Law at the Department of Criminology and Sociology of Law, University of Oslo. She is Principal Investigator of the BEYOND project.

In the BEYOND project, Maja will research 1) UNHCR’s mandatory duty to promote accession to the international refugee law instruments, and 2) the relationship between Lebanon and the international refugee regime.

In the latter sub-project, Maja will take a closer look at 1) the historical and political circumstances related to UNHCR’s establishment in Lebanon, 2) how Lebanese courts and legal aid providers engage with international refugee law norms and principles, and 3) Lebanon’s participation in UNHCR’s Executive Committee, and in the negotiations of the UN Global Compact on Refugees/New York Declaration.
