Arjumand Bano Kazmi is Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Criminology and Sociology of Law, University of Oslo.

Arjumand holds a PhD in Law (2018) and an LLM in ‘Law in Development’ (2003) from the University of Warwick. She also studied for a Masters in Political Science from the University of Karachi, Pakistan. Until recently, she was an Assistant Professor at the School of Law, University of Warwick, UK and has held positions in several non-profit organizations.

As part of the BEYOND project, Arjumand will research Pakistan’s relationship with the international refugee regime. She will explore the socio-legal and political factors that have shaped Pakistan’s treatment of Afghan refugees for over 40 years, including the reasons for why Pakistan remains a non-party to the 1951 Refugee Convention.
